100% Congolese Electrical Panels – An Industrial Turning Point in Kolwezi
Day by day, “Made in DRC” is becoming more prominent.
Electrical panels are now being manufactured locally in Kolwezi, thanks to Purcee Industrial Power & Controls, a Congolese company spotlighted during a press conference hosted on July 8 by the Club National des Sous-traitants (CNS) at Kempinski Fleuve Congo Hotel in Kinshasa.
A National First Driven by Local Expertise
Under the leadership of Patrick Kasenda, also Executive Secretary of the CNS, the country has just seen the birth of the first company fully producing electrical panels locally. A significant step in reducing imports and creating a new wave of industrial innovation across sub-Saharan Africa.
“In line with the vision of the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, to promote industrialization through local production, we aim to shift from imports to local manufacturing. This includes jobs, training, and skill development,” stated Kasenda.
Entrepreneurial Solidarity within the CNS
During the event, Bernadette Mpundu, CNS National Coordinator, highlighted this local initiative as a model of industrial success:
“The Club’s role is to provide support, encouragement, and resources. But above all, to champion what makes a real difference—those who dare to innovate.”
She emphasized how this innovation within the subcontracting sector is not just a technical achievement, but a symbol of what the CNS stands for—policy-driven industrial development and investment in local capacity.
Expertise Ready for ISO-Compliant Products
Patrick Kasenda also emphasized the support from CNS President Gabriel Tshibeki, and the importance of product quality and ISO certification:
“Thanks to these ongoing efforts, Purcee Industrial now meets international ISO standards.”
A Response to the Local Content Law
This industrial milestone directly addresses the Local Content Law, passed on October 13, 2022, which encourages greater national participation in major projects and strategic industries.
High-Level Recognition
The ceremony was attended by Jean-Marie Kanda, Special Advisor to the Head of State in charge of mines, energy, and hydrocarbons. He praised the initiative for aligning with the presidential vision:
“To produce locally is not just a dream—it’s a reality. It’s symbolic and essential. Purcee Industrial embodies that.”
He encouraged mining operators to source locally and highlighted this as a strategic step in reducing production costs and strengthening national industry:
“To all industrialists, reducing costs starts with mastering logistics and supply chains. The smartest move is to consume what we produce ourselves.”
CNS – A Pillar of Congolese Economic Emergence
The CNS, officially launched on June 21, 2021, now includes over 500 active members. It continues to play a key role in implementing national subcontracting policy and driving economic opportunities.
A Turning Point for Industrial Development
As the strategic voice for subcontracting in the DRC, the CNS has made significant strides in transforming the economic landscape, especially in sectors like infrastructure and resource extraction.
